There are plenty of people out there that like the way the Fiat 124 Spider and the Mazda Mx-5 drive and feel on the road who care noting for a convertible. Convertibles are hot in the summer, cold in the winter, and louder than coupes even with the top up. If you like the idea of a Fait 124 Spider in coupe form, word is that the car is coming down the pipe.
A report is circulating that claims that a coupe version of the Fiat 124 is coming as soon as next year. To make things even more exciting for fans, this coupe is tipped to be higher performing than the convertible. It’s worth noting that the Fiat coupe won’t be a clone of the MX-5 RF according to sources.
The trunk may be accessible in a typical hatchback way where the glass lifts with the rear hatch rather than a trunk like the convertible offers. As for power, some markets are tipped for the paltry 138hp 1.4L four the spider gets in the UK. US versions are tipped for a 158hp four in stock form and a 178hp unit in Abarth form. The coupe is expected to be about 10% more than the convertible, a bit of a change where drop top rides tend to me more costly than coupes for other car models.
