The FBI and Apple are fighting it out over the unlocking of an iPhone, the FBI wants Apple to create software to allow for the handset to be unlocked using its passcode.
Apple does not want to create the software, as it says it would create a back door for the iPhone, the FBI has said this is not the case and it just needs this software for the iPhone that belonged to a terrorist.
According to a recent report by the Wall Street Journal, the FBI wants Apple to unlock more than just the one iPhone they had specified.
The DOJ is apparently pushing court cases to get 12 more iPhones unlocked by Apple, that is a total of 13 iPhones, which is certainly a lot more than the FBI had revealed.
So it looks like this is not a one off case and if the tool is created, it would allow the FBI and the government access to basically any iPhone, it could also be used for no good if it falls into the wrong hands.
