Facebook recently rolled out their new Timeline feature to Facebook users around the globe, and now Facebook has extended the Timeline to brand pages as well as personal pages.
The new Facebook brand pages with Timeline are available today, we just checked our Geeky Gadgets page on Facebook and the Timeline is now available, although we haven’t updated ours yet to the new Timeline design.
Key Features of the New Timeline for Brand Pages
Facebook will introduce the Timeline as the standard page for brand pages by the 30th of March. The Brand pages look very similar to the personal timeline pages, featuring a large cover photo at the top, a more visually engaging layout, and the ability to highlight important posts. This new design allows brands to tell their story in a more compelling way, using visuals and milestones to engage their audience.
One of the most significant changes is the ability to “pin” posts to the top of the page. This feature allows brands to keep important updates or promotions at the forefront of their page for up to seven days. Additionally, the Timeline layout makes it easier for visitors to navigate through a brand’s history, seeing how the brand has evolved over time.
Enhanced Admin Interface
As well as updating brand pages to Timeline, Facebook has also introduced a new admin interface for brand pages, and from what we have seen so far it looks a lot more user-friendly than the previous version. The new admin panel consolidates all the essential tools and notifications into one place, making it easier for page administrators to manage their content and interact with their audience.
The admin panel now includes insights on page performance, such as the number of new likes, post reach, and engagement metrics. This data is crucial for brands to understand what content resonates with their audience and to adjust their strategies accordingly. The streamlined interface also allows for quicker access to messages, notifications, and page settings, enhancing the overall user experience for administrators.
Another notable feature is the ability to respond to private messages from fans. This addition provides a more personal way for brands to engage with their audience, addressing concerns or questions directly and privately. This can help improve customer service and build stronger relationships with followers.
Examples of Brands Using the New Timeline Effectively
Several brands have already embraced the new Timeline feature and are using it to their advantage. For instance, Coca-Cola has utilized the large cover photo to showcase their iconic branding and has highlighted significant milestones in their history, creating a rich narrative for visitors. Similarly, Red Bull has used the Timeline to feature high-impact visuals and videos, aligning with their brand’s energetic and adventurous image.
Another example is Starbucks, which has used the Timeline to highlight their community involvement and sustainability efforts. By showcasing these initiatives, Starbucks can connect with their audience on a deeper level, emphasizing their commitment to social responsibility.
The new Facebook Timeline for brand pages offers a more dynamic and engaging way for brands to connect with their audience. With features like the cover photo, pinned posts, and enhanced admin interface, brands can create a more visually appealing and interactive experience for their followers. As more brands adopt this new layout, it will be interesting to see how they leverage these tools to tell their stories and engage with their audience.
