It’s certainly not what everyone was expecting after Back to the Future, but unexpected doesn’t mean unwelcome, especially since unlike the CSI games for instance, this probably won’t be painfully horrible. The game will follow the LA entry in the Law & Order family, still in its first season, presumably because following the original one from the start meant they’d catch up about around the heat death of the universe.
The game apparently “will take the crime solving focus to interrogation and criminal investigations, with a heavy dose of courtroom drama on each case,” which raises hopes the Phoenix Wright series will inspire at least some of the proceedings, seeing how it’s currently the bleeding edge in video game courtroom drama, though perhaps not much on the procedural front. Or maybe it’s more of a Harvery Birdman sort of thing. We’ll just have to see after it hits on PC, Mac, consoles, tablets, phones and hovercraft dashboards later this year.
