Elgato has launched a new smart plug called the Eve Energy which has been designed to provide an easy way of transforming any appliance into a smart appliance by simply plugging it in.
Once activated the smart plug has a companion application that allows you to learn more about your energy usage enabling you to switch on or off your devices using your smartphone if required.
The Eve smart plug connects directly to your iOS device using Bluetooth connectivity, without the need for WiFi or an extra hub, gateway or bridge, says Elgato. Elgato explains a little more about their new smart plug which is now available to purchase in the US and supports Apple HomeKit.
Live smarter by knowing more about the place you care about most. With Eve Energy, switch your devices on or off using Siri or with a simple tap, and instantly see how much energy your devices are using. See your energy consumption at a glance, and view beautiful graphs by day, month or year. Gain insights that help you improve your comfort, and make your home a smarter place.
Want to get your home ready for your arrival? Control Eve Energy even if you are away from home. All you need is an Apple TV, and you’re ready to remotely turn devices on and off, launch your favorite scene, or check the status of your home at a glance. HomeKit technology provides advanced security with end-to-end encryption and authentication between Eve and your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Eve requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 9.1 or later. HomeKit requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 8.1 or later. Controlling HomeKit-enabled accessories away from home requires an Apple TV (3rd generation or later) with Apple TV software 7.0 or later and an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 8.1 or later.
