The update will apparently hit the Droid Turbo this afternoon in the US, you can check if it is available for your handset by going to Settings > About Phone > System Update.
What to Expect from the Android 5.1 Lollipop Update
The Android 5.1 Lollipop update brings a host of new features and improvements to the Droid Turbo. Users can look forward to enhanced performance, better battery management, and a more intuitive user interface. One of the key highlights of this update is the introduction of Material Design, which offers a more visually appealing and user-friendly experience. Additionally, the update includes important security patches and bug fixes that enhance the overall stability of the device.
Another significant feature is the improved notifications system. With Android 5.1, users can manage their notifications more efficiently, with the ability to prioritize and respond to messages directly from the lock screen. The update also introduces Smart Lock, which allows users to set trusted locations and devices to keep their phone unlocked, adding an extra layer of convenience.
How to Manually Download the Update
If you do not receive the over-the-air update notification, you can manually check for the update. To do this, navigate to Settings > About Phone > System Update and follow the on-screen instructions. Ensure that your device is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network and has sufficient battery life before initiating the update process. It is also recommended to back up your important data to avoid any potential loss during the update.
The Android 5.1 Lollipop update is expected to roll out in phases, so it may take some time before it reaches all Droid Turbo users. Patience is key, but the wait will be worth it given the numerous enhancements and new features that come with this update.
