One glance at the Donkervoort D8 GTO-RS and it’s not hard to see it as a modern version of the classic Lotus 7. The company says that it has put lots of work into the aerodynamics of the car to help it perform on the racetrack. Power comes from an Audi 2.5L R5 TFSI engine that was optimized with help from Bosch for more acceleration and power.
Bosch also helped Donkervoort to integrate other performance enhancing features like launch control and a double-clutch function of the car. The car is made with a wider track to have better grip on the front axle and the brakes were redesigned compared to previous models.
The interior of the car is made to order and the RS gets a carbon fiber tunnel section. The car is street legal and has the comfort that drivers want to drive it on the roads. The company says that this is the fastest and lightest GTO ever made. The D8 GTO-RS will launch in the summer of 2016 with only 40 units produced. The starting price will be €151,173 and so far, the company says it has sold 21 of the cars it will make.
