Dodge is doing very well with its Challenger muscle car having sold tens of thousands of them in 2018. The car has soldiered on with no changes for a long time now, but a refresh is set to happen. Along with reports of a refresh also comes reports of a hybrid model.
This is no real surprise given that many buy the Challenger for looks, not performance and that crowd would welcome better fuel economy. Speculation suggests the hybrid version would use an FCA 4-cylinder engine paired with an electric hybrid system. The price is thought to be around $30,000.
Ford has also been considering an electrified Mustang so Dodge won’t be alone. Not all hybrid systems are for fuel economy; many hypercars use hybrids for performance improvements.
