Chevrolet has announced a significant price cut for the 2014 Chevrolet Volt electric car. The new starting MSRP for the vehicle will be $34,995 making it $5000 cheaper than the previous model. The $34,995 price also includes the $810 destination fee.
The starting price is for a base level car without any optional equipment. The 2014 Volt is EPA rated for 38 miles of electric driving and 37 mpg in combined range extending mode with the gasoline engine in use. The only changes for 2014 are a leather wrapped steering wheel and two new paint colors.
The new paint colors include Ashen Grey Metallic and Brownstone Metallic. The Volt qualifies for the income tax credit of $7500 from the federal government and various other incentives from states. The Volt is still the best-selling plug-in electric vehicle in the country.
