Whilst it isn’t exactly a fully fledged smartwatch the new Breitling B55 Connected Watch is designed to connect to your smartphone and it comes with some smartwatch features.
The Breitling B55 Connected combines smartwatch technology with a chronograph wristwatch and it the watch is designed to be used by pilots.
For Breitling, there was no question of turning a watch into an extension dependent on a phone and less high-performance than the latter. The chronograph remains the absolute master and the connection with the smartphone is primarily designed to improve its user friendliness. Two-way communication enables the two instruments to form a perfectly complementary pair in which each is used for what it does best. Since the main assets of a smartphone are its screen and its ergonomic interface, owners of the B55 Connected can use their phone to perform certain adjustments (time-setting, timezones, alarms, display and operating parameters, night mode, etc.). The result is a considerable gain in comfort and efficiency. Conversely, the user may also upload the results of various measurements (flight times, etc.) from the chronograph to the smartphone so as to be able to read them more easily, store them or pass them on.
As yet there are no details on how much the new Breitling B55 Connected will retail for the company will be showing it off at Baselworld 2015.
