A unique electric skateboard has been unveiled this week in the form of the Beachboard, designed to take surfing on to the land. The Beachboard uses a mounting system that allows you to attach your surfboard and travel to the waves on land in style before dismounting and attaching your surfboard before taking to the waves.
Watch the demonstration video below for more information on this unique electric skateboard which has been designed by a team based in Los Angeles, California.
The Beach Board. Surf the beach and the ocean. Turn your surfboard into a Beachboard. This is an off-road electric platform which will accommodate virtually any surfboard. Ride your board to the waves then detach the board in seconds and surf. The 4-wheel steering and reverse features allows for a tight turning radius. Hand controls operate forward, reverse, brake and speed with one hand. The frame is built out of a light weight aluminum and we use 15″ fat-tires.
The prototype board was built by hand, however we are currently in a production of 5 units which will be laser cut on a CNC machine to add more strength and stability. The purpose of this campaign is to purchase the materials necessary for a second run of 50 boards, thereby getting a price break so we can lower the price per board. We feel most people will want to use their own boards, however we are offering custom Bamboo Surfboards as an option.
Beachboard has been launched this week via Kickstarter to raise the $30,000 it requires to go into production. So if you think it is something you would benefit from jump over to the official campaign page via the link below to make a pledge and help the design become a reality.
