Earlier this month Jeep rolled out an awesome concept vehicle that was ready to tackle the rough trails in Moab, Utah. The concept is called the Jeep Crew Chief 715 and it is everything that Jeep faithful have wanted in a Jeep with a truck bed. The truck was first spied at the annual Easter Jeep Safari and while it wasn’t the only concept there, it is the coolest looking in my book.
The truck was inspired by the Kaiser M715 military utility truck from the late ’60s. That military vehicle was based on the Jeep Gladiator truck. The Crew Chief concept has a five foot truck bed, soft top, and winches integrated into the front and rear bumpers.
The vehicle has a 4-inch lift, Dana 60 axles, and special remote reservoir shocks. It also has an onboard air compressor. Power comes from the Wrangler 3.6L V6 rated at 285hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The chances of this concept seeing production are very slim. Jeep has a long history of showing off awesome concepts that get fans excited and then letting them down by not producing the vehicle.
