Audi has announced a new concept version of its Audi R8 e-tron and this version comes with some self driving capabilities.
Audi calls the car the Audi R8 e-tron piloted driving technical concept car and it comes with high performance drive systems and functions for piloted driving.
The Audi R8 e-tron piloted driving concept car is based on the multimaterial Space Frame of the new production R8. A rear car body module made of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) integrates the luggage compartment, which extends the frame structure. The walls of the luggage compartment shell are corrugated, so that they can absorb extreme amounts of energy with little material weight in case of a rear-end collision. Thanks to specific modifications made to the outer shell and wheels, the Audi R8 e-tron piloted driving attains a low Cd value of 0.28. Its front end and sideblades feature e-tron specific lighting solutions.
This new Audi R8 e-tron has a range of 450 km which is about 279.6 miles, the previous version had a range of 215km or 133.6 miles, and it also comes with a new battery which can be charged in less than two hours.
It feature two electric motors that can propel the new e-tron from 0 to 62.1 miles per hour in just 3.9 seconds an d it has an electronically limited top speed of 155 miles per hour, you can find out more details at the link below.
