Reading a wrist-mounted dive computer requires a diver to lower their gaze. AREX is changing that experience by moving dive data into the mask with AREX ONE, an augmented-reality dive computer unveiled at ShowStoppers @ IFA Berlin on September 3, 2026, ahead of its Kickstarter campaign on September 22.
Dive Data in the Natural Line of Sight
The mask uses a transparent optical waveguide and a Micro LED display to show depth, dive time, gas information, decompression status, compass headings, temperature, and alerts. Current specifications list a 640 x 480 single-green display, a 30-degree field of view and 98 percent transparency. AREX says the display reaches 3,000 nits at peak brightness and remains readable when surrounding water is turbid.
AREX ONE also functions as a standalone dive computer after initial setup. It supports freediving, gauge, open-circuit, and closed-circuit rebreather modes, along with Air, Nitrox, and Trimix. The Bühlmann ZHL-16C algorithm includes adjustable Gradient Factors, and the system is rated in the current product materials for operation to 120 meters. A sensor-based button and knob are designed for gloved use, backed by vibration and external-light alerts.
The physical mask uses a medical-grade silicone skirt, tempered-glass lens, and reinforced-polymer frame with an aluminum-alloy front section. AREX lists the main unit at roughly 300 grams on land and slightly negatively buoyant underwater. Prescription lenses can also be customized for the wearer.
Three Optional Accessories
The wider AREX platform includes the TX Pressure Pod for wireless cylinder-pressure data, a Sync Dive Torch with spotlight, floodlight, and laser functions, and a Marine ID Scanner. The scanner pairs a 4K camera with local AI processing to identify marine life and add discoveries to a diver’s records. These modules give AREX room to expand the interface through future software and hardware updates.
Working Prototype on Display in Berlin
AREX is exhibiting its latest working prototype at IFA Berlin in Hall 25, Booth 220 from September 4–8, allowing visitors to evaluate HUD legibility, mask comfort, and tactile controls firsthand while real-world underwater testing continues. Following its public unveiling in Berlin, the official Kickstarter campaign opens on September 22, 2026, with an MSRP of $1,499.
