Apple [AAPL] started allowing its customers to pre-order the new iPhone 4 from its online store from 9am here in the UK, but many customers we unable to order their iPhone 4 because of the huge demand.
The store was up and down for a period of about three hours with some customers being able to order the iPhone 4 and some not. It took us just over three hours before we managed to get our iPhone order in.
The new Apple iPhone 4 is available to buy online from the Apple store SIM free, this means you can use it on whichever network you want in the UK, as long as they support the new Micro SIM.
The fact that the iPhone 4 is available SIM, probably had a lot to do with the huge demand for it, as customers can now choose which network is best for them, based on coverage, pricing etc, and whilst the SIM free version is expensive it offers customers complete freedom from lengthy expensive mobile contracts.
The 16GB iPhone 4 is available for £499 SIM free, whilst the 32GB iPhone 4 is available for £599 SIM free. We are still waiting to hear prices on contract iPhones from the five major networks in the UK, as soon as we get more information we will let guys know.
