Apple has revealed its latest iOS distribution figures, and iOS 12 is now on 80% of all of Apple’s iOS devices.
The software is on 83% of Apple’s iOS devices that have been introduced in the last four years, covering the period up until the 24th of February 2019. This has increased from around 70% back in December of last year. This significant rise in adoption indicates a strong preference among users for the latest features and improvements offered by iOS 12.
This means that four out of five of Apple’s iOS devices are now running their iOS 12 software, and more people have decided to upgrade to the new OS. The rapid adoption rate can be attributed to several factors, including enhanced performance, new features, and improved security measures.
Comparing iOS 12 to Previous Versions
Adoption of iOS 12 has been better than the adoption of iOS 11. iOS 11 was on around 65% adoption in January 2018, which is around 10 percent lower than iOS 12 adoption. This difference highlights the improvements and user satisfaction with iOS 12. The increased adoption rate can be attributed to several key features introduced in iOS 12, such as Group FaceTime, Screen Time, and enhanced notifications management.
Group FaceTime allows users to video chat with up to 32 people simultaneously, making it a valuable tool for both personal and professional use. Screen Time provides users with insights into their device usage, helping them manage their time more effectively. Enhanced notifications management allows users to group notifications and manage them more efficiently, reducing distractions and improving productivity.
Upcoming Features in iOS 12.2
Apple is working on a new version of the software, iOS 12.2, which will bring a range of new features to the iPhone and iPad. These new features include some new Animoji and support for AirPlay 2 and HomeKit on third-party TVs. The new Animoji characters, such as a giraffe, shark, owl, and warthog, add more fun and personalization options for users during their messaging and FaceTime sessions.
Support for AirPlay 2 and HomeKit on third-party TVs is a significant development, as it allows users to stream content and control their smart home devices directly from their iOS devices. This integration enhances the overall user experience by providing seamless connectivity and control across multiple devices and platforms.
We are expecting Apple to release their iOS 12.2 software sometime in March. This update is anticipated to further boost the adoption rate of iOS 12, as users look forward to the new features and improvements.
In addition to these features, iOS 12.2 is expected to include various bug fixes and performance enhancements, ensuring a smoother and more reliable user experience. Apple continues to prioritize user satisfaction and security, making iOS 12.2 a highly anticipated update for iPhone and iPad users.
