Apple announced at their iPhone X event that they would be releasing their new iOS 11 software tomorrow, the 19th of September.
The iOS 11 update will be available for the iPhone, iPad, and the latest iPod Touch. You can see a full list of devices that will be getting the update here.
New Features in iOS 11
Apple’s iOS 11 will bring a wide range of new features to the iPhone and iPad. This includes an updated App Store, a new Siri with improved voices, and much more. The updated App Store has been redesigned to make discovering apps and games easier than ever before. It now features a Today tab that highlights new releases and all-time favorites, as well as dedicated tabs for Games and Apps.
Siri has also received significant improvements. The new Siri not only sounds more natural but also offers translation capabilities and can suggest actions based on your usage patterns. For example, if you frequently use a particular app at a certain time of day, Siri might suggest opening that app for you.
Another notable feature is the new Control Center, which is now customizable. Users can add or remove controls to suit their needs, making it easier to access the settings and features they use most often. Additionally, iOS 11 introduces a new Files app, which brings all your files together in one place, whether they are stored locally, in iCloud, or in other cloud services like Dropbox.
Preparing for the Update
It is a good idea to get your iPhone or iPad ready for the update, so you can install it as soon as the software is released. As this is a major update to iOS, it would be wise to take a backup of your device before you install the update. This ensures that you won’t lose any important data if something goes wrong during the installation process.
You can either back up your device to your computer with iTunes or back it up to iCloud directly from your device. To back up using iTunes, connect your device to your computer, open iTunes, and select your device. Then, click on “Back Up Now.” To back up to iCloud, go to Settings on your device, tap on your name at the top, select iCloud, and then tap on “iCloud Backup.” Make sure that “iCloud Backup” is turned on, and then tap “Back Up Now.”
As yet, there are no details on when exactly tomorrow the iOS 11 update will be released. Apple typically releases updates around 10 AM Pacific Time, but this can vary. As soon as we get more details, we will let you guys know.
In addition to backing up your device, it’s also a good idea to make sure you have enough free space to install the update. iOS updates can be quite large, so you may need to delete some apps or files to make room. You can check how much free space you have by going to Settings > General > iPhone Storage (or iPad Storage).
Finally, ensure that your device is fully charged or connected to a power source before starting the update. Running out of battery during the installation process can cause issues and potentially leave your device in an unusable state.
In summary, iOS 11 is set to bring a host of exciting new features and improvements to your Apple devices. By taking a few simple steps to prepare for the update, you can ensure a smooth and hassle-free installation process. Stay tuned for more updates and enjoy exploring all that iOS 11 has to offer!
