Apple recently reminded owners of older iPhone and iPad devices to update their software before the 3rd of November and now Apple is again reminding iPhone 5 owners to perform the update
If you own an iPhone 5 then you need to update your handset to the latest software before the 3rd of November.
This will ensure that your device continues to work properly and that the correct data and time and GPS data is displayed, you can see details below which explains why you need to update.
Starting just before 12:00 a.m. UTC on November 3, 2019,* iPhone 5 will require an iOS update to maintain accurate GPS location and to continue to use functions that rely on correct date and time including App Store, iCloud, email, and web browsing. This is due to the GPS time rollover issue that began affecting GPS-enabled products from other manufacturers on April 6, 2019. Affected Apple devices are not impacted until just before 12:00 a.m. UTC on November 3, 2019.
You can install the iOS 10.3.4 software update on your iPhone 5 by going to Settings > General Software update. You need to install the update by the 3rd of November to make sure your iPhone 5 continues to work. The issue will start to affect devices from the 6th of November 2019.
