Even though Apple has this week announced the launch of its new Apple OS X Mavericks operating system to Apple’s user base worldwide. It’s great to see that they are also providing Apple redemption codes for users that might wish to purchase older versions of the Mac OS X operating system for older Mac hardware or projects or just to be able to upgrade to the new OS X Mavericks form older unsupported versions.
From today Apple is offering Apple redemption codes to purchase the older OS X 10.7 Lion And OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion operating systems for $19.99 directly from the Apple online store.
Apple redemption codes for older versions of Apple’s operating systems have been available in the past but users were required to call Apple for copies of Lion. Apple explains a little more in their press release:
“If you need to purchase Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, you may order it from this page. The most current version of OS X is OS X 10.9 Mavericks. To learn more, please click here.
What do you receive: An email with a content code for the Mac App Store.
Note: Redemption codes are usually delivered within 1 business day but may occasionally take longer.”
When Apple launched their new Os X Mavericks operating system earlier this week to many peoples astonishment they made a new OS X Mavericks operating system completely free for users to upgrade to. As well as making their iWorks and iLife software packages also free to upgrade to. Putting Microsoft in an awkward position charging for their latest Windows 8.1 update for users that haven’t already upgraded to Windows 8.
