Apple has apparently made another acquisition, this time it is a company called Lattice Data who apparently use AI and Machine Learning to turn ‘dark data’ into structured data.
Dark Data is unstructured data like text and images and Apple apparently paid $200 million to purchase Lattice, of course this had not been confirmed by Apple as yet.
According to a recent report from TechCrunch, a team of around 20 engineers for Lattice have joined Apple as part of the deal. TechCrunch reached out to Apple about the deal and were given the following statement.
“Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans,”.
The company had apparently raised around $20 million in funding previously and it was founded back in 2015, exactly what Apple has planned for their new acquisition remains to be seen.
