Earlier this year, Sony launched the miniature version of the Xperia Z1, but it’s not something similar to other “mini” handsets available in the market. Sony Xperia Z1 Compact offered a similar set of specifications as the Xperia Z1 with just a few minor changes.
Sony Xperia Z1 Compact launched with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, but some recent reports suggest that Android 4.4 KitKat is rolling out for the handset. The update is reportedly rolling out in Russia, Italy and Indonesia with a build number 14.4.A.0.108.
Unfortunately, the change log is not yet available, but we know what we can expect from the Android 4.4 KitKat update. If you’re based in one of the mentioned countries, and are in possession of a Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, you may want to check your device and see if the update is rolling out.
As for the specifications, the Sony Xperia Z1 rocks a 4.3-inch display sporting a 720p resolution, and is powered by a Snapdragon 800 SoC. Other features include 2GB of RAM, 16GB storage with a microSD card slot, WiFi, Bluetooth, 20.7MP camera for photos and videos, 2MP front-facing camera, a 2,300 mAh battery, and runs Android 4.3 KitKat as its operating system out of the box.
