Those of you that have been patiently waiting for Amazon to make available their new Amazon Echo personal home assistant to compete with the likes of Apple’s Siri and Microsoft’s Cortana.
You will be pleased to know that Amazon has now started taking pre-orders throughout the US with shipping expected to start on July 14th, 2015 and will even work when you are not at home using the Echo companion app for iOS and Android.
Amazon Echo is priced at $180 and includes technology that allows you to control services and appliances using just your voice. The small countertop device is equipped with file field voice recognition, that is capable of hearing you across a large room. As well as being connected to the Alexa cloud enabling Echo to become smarter as time passes.
Amazon Echo is designed around your voice. It’s hands-free and always on. With seven microphones and beam-forming technology, Echo can hear you from across the room—even while music is playing. Echo is also an expertly tuned speaker that can fill any room with immersive sound.
Echo connects to Alexa, a cloud-based voice service, to provide information, answer questions, play music, read the news, check sports scores or the weather, and more—instantly. All you have to do is ask. Echo begins working as soon as it detects the wake word. You can pick Alexa or Amazon as your wake word.
Echo has been fine-tuned to deliver crisp vocals with dynamic bass response. Its dual downward-firing speakers produce 360° omni-directional audio to fill the room with immersive sound.
