If you are the user of a small ultraportable notebook or netbook that uses a 1.8-inhc HDD or SSD and you want an upgrade the choices are slim. Active Media Products unveiled a new upgrade option today called the SaberTooth ZF turbo ZIF SSD that is a direct upgrade for many small machines on the market.
The new SSD line is 1.8″ offerings that use the PATA ZIF 40-pin interface and are only 5mm thick. The SSDs have MLC NAND inside and power saving designs to extend battery life. The SSD line also features ECC and bad bit management and has wear leveling algorithms for longer life.
The SSDs are capable of sequential read speed up to 130MB/s. They will fit inside a bunch of machines on the market including the MacBook Air first generation and many machines from Dell, Asus, Acer, and Sony among others. The SSDs range in price from $129.99 to $349.95 in 32GB to 128GB capacity.
