Nintendo has announced that their new 3DS passed 400,000 US sales in just its first opening week. Also setting a new US day-one record for Nintendo’s handheld division.
Nintendo released its new 3DS console on the 27th March 2011 and managed a huge 400,000 in March alone. To put this in perspective their DS sold a total of 460,000 in its first 30 days on sale and if you take the new 3DS figures over a full 30 days, it a whopping 2.4 million.
But as most manufacturers know to sustaining a products first weeks sales figures over the first month does not always happen and requires an exceptional device.
