A new iPhone 6 case has been published on Shapeways that can be 3D printed or is available to be created by their 3D printing service priced at $36.
As you can see from the image above the unique iPhone 6 case is equipped with a ring on one side which can be used to provide a better grip when being held and also allows you to hang your iPhone from clips or hooks if desired.
I’m not sure how practical the design would be in everyday life as I haven’t used it yet, but it is an interesting idea and provides a solution if like me you are one of those people that like to drop your smartphone on the hardest of surfaces. Its designer David Tsai explains a little more :
Adding the ring component to the case was pretty straight forward, however, because the ring covers the power button, I had to design a small button within the ring to access the power/wake up button.
The main idea behind the Ring case was how to hold the iPhone so that the hand is still free to do or hold other things. Additionally, the ring also allows the iPhone to be easily clipped on to a backpack, worn on a necklace or pinned up on a wall.
