Hyundai has rolled out a new mid-size SUV meant to look good and haul lots of folks at the LA Auto Show. The new SUV is called the Palisade, and it takes its place as the flagship Hyundai SUV. Hyundai says it is ideal for road trips with a 10-inch navigation screen, wireless device charging, seven USB ports, second row ventilated seats, shift-by-wire, and roof-based diffuser vents.
Advanced Technology and Comfort
Hyundai’s SmartSense assistance tech comes standard, ensuring a safer and more convenient driving experience. The SUV can haul up to eight people with powered third-row seats, and one-touch second-row seats, making it easy to reconfigure the interior for passengers or cargo. Other features include Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and an available premium Infinity audio system, which provides an immersive audio experience for all passengers. Hyundai also fits the car with a color HUD (Head-Up Display) to place important driving information directly on the windshield, reducing the need for drivers to take their eyes off the road.
The Palisade also boasts a sophisticated climate control system with roof-based diffuser vents that ensure even air distribution throughout the cabin. This feature is particularly beneficial for long road trips, as it helps maintain a comfortable temperature for all passengers, regardless of where they are seated.
Power and Performance
Since this is a bigger car, it has a Driver Talk in-car intercom with rear seat conversation modes and sleep modes, allowing the driver to communicate easily with passengers in the back without raising their voice. This feature is particularly useful for families with children, as it helps maintain a peaceful cabin environment.
Power is provided by a robust 3.8L V6 engine making 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with an HTRAC AWD system, which can distribute power to all four wheels, enhancing traction and stability in various driving conditions. The Palisade’s powertrain is designed to deliver a smooth and responsive driving experience, whether you’re navigating city streets or tackling off-road adventures.
The Palisade will hit dealers in the summer of 2019; pricing is unannounced. However, given its extensive list of features and advanced technology, it is expected to be competitively priced within the mid-size SUV segment.
Additional Features and Safety
In addition to its impressive technology and performance, the Hyundai Palisade is equipped with a range of safety features designed to protect occupants and enhance driver confidence. These include forward collision-avoidance assist, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, and lane-keeping assist. These systems work together to monitor the vehicle’s surroundings and provide alerts or automatic interventions to help prevent accidents.
The Palisade also offers a surround-view monitor, which provides a 360-degree view of the vehicle’s surroundings, making parking and maneuvering in tight spaces easier and safer. The rear occupant alert system is another thoughtful feature, reminding drivers to check the back seats for passengers or belongings before exiting the vehicle.
Overall, the Hyundai Palisade is a well-rounded mid-size SUV that combines style, comfort, technology, and safety. It is designed to meet the needs of modern families and adventurous individuals alike, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a versatile and capable vehicle.
