Porsche is at the New York Autoshow with the North American debut of the 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster. The car has a version of the naturally-aspirated 4.0L flat-six from the GT3 and GT3 RS. In Speedster guise, the engine makes 502hp and 346 lb-ft of torque.
That pushes the car to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and to a top speed of 192mph. All that power and torque goes to the rear wheels via a 6-speed GT Sport manual transmission. No flappy paddle gearbox is offered.
To save weight the car uses a manual fabric top, door panels with pulls and nets for storage, and lots of carbon fiber composite material body panels. Porsche is mum on pricing but says the car will come to dealers in late 2019 with orders starting May 7.
