So you need a four-door car to haul the family around in, that doesn’t mean you can’t get a car that has power and decent performance. Take the new 2017 Ford Fusion Sport, this car has a 2.7L twin turbo V6 engine that makes up to 325hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. Not so long ago you would need a gas swilling V8 to make that sort of power.
Take all that oomph and put it to the front wheels only and the car might be a handful of torque steer. Thankfully, Ford sends that power to all four wheels. Compare it to the top competitor in the form of the Accord Touring with a 3.5L V6 making 278hp and 252 lb-ft of torque that all go through the front wheels and I’ll definitely take a Fusion Sport.
The Fusion is definitely the sportier ride of the two, but hopefully the ride doesn’t suffer too much for performance. It’s very cool that we can get family cars with this sort of power today. Car guys and gals that like a little speed every now and again can still take kids to school in comfort.
