Chevy has unveiled the 2017 Camaro ZL1 that is based on the all-new 6th generation Camaro that is lighter, offers better handling, and more performance. The new car claims improved levels of technology, refinement, track capability, and acceleration. Much of that comes with the new supercharged LT4 6.2L V8 making 640hp and 640 lb-ft of torque.
That engine can be backed up with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a new 10-speed auto with paddle shifters. ZL1 buyers also get Magnetic Ride suspension, electronic LSD, dual mode exhaust, performance traction management system, and launch control. The new V8 makes 60 more horsepower and 80 lb-ft of torque more than the predecessor.
The car is also fitted with unique 20-inch forged wheels with Eagle F1 supercar tires. Brembo brakes with six piston front calipers and 15.35-inch two-piece front rotors are standard. Byers can option the car with the Chevy Performance Data Recorder and inside the car Recaro seats and a flat-bottom steering wheel are standard. Chevy spent lots of time in the wind tunnel with this car to optimize aerodynamics and it has ten heat exchangers to keep it cool on the track.
