BMW has offered up all the details on the new Alpina B7 xDrive sedan. The car has a 600 bhp 4.4L V8 engine that uses twin turbos, direct injection, and Valvetronic tech. All that tech adds up to 590 lb-ft of torque starting at 3000 rpm. The AWD system in the car helps it get the traction needed to reach 60mph in 3.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 193 mph.
Among the Alpina parts on the car is a special air intake and revised suspension for better handling. The engine uses special Mahle pistons and new spark plugs to handle the loads that go along with 20 psi of boost and 10.1:1 compression ratio. An Alpina stainless sport exhaust system is also used with driver selectable comfort and sport modes. The car uses a 2-axle air suspension system, Dynamic Damper control and Active Comfort Drive.
That suspension allows the driver to adjust the ride height of the vehicle by 1.6-inches. The system also lowers the car as speeds increase for stability. Brakes are updated and the engine puts power to all four wheels via an 8-speed sports automatic with Alpina Switch-Tronic tech. Pricing and availability are unannounced.
