Ram trucks are taking the lead in several key aspects of the truck market with updated 2016 models in the works that will be rolling off assembly lines in Q3 2015. The most capable of the Ram trucks is the 2016 3500 Heavy Duty packing the 6.7L Cummins diesel engine under the hood. That engine produces a class leading 900 lb-ft of torque. That much torque gives the vehicle a massive towing capacity of 31,240 pounds.
Ram says that the 31,210 pound SAE J2807-spec towing capacity the truck offers is more than two tons higher than the next competitor in the market. Truck shoppers not needing to tow over 31,000 pounds with a dually truck can opt for the 2016 Ram 2500, which has the highest towing capacity of a 3/4 ton truck at 17,890 pounds.
Buyers preferring gas power can get a 3500 with a Hemi 6.4L V8 that offers payload capacity of 7,390 pounds making it best in class. Ram also offers the most fuel efficient normal duty truck in the class with the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 offering 29mpg on the highway. 2016 Ram trucks will have a 5/60,000 mile warranty on gas engines and 5/100,000 mile warranty on diesel engines.
