Honda has announced the launch of the 10th generation Accord. The Accord is the best selling mid-size sedan in the US and launching a massively redesigned version of that car is a big deal. The 2018 Accord will launch this fall. The new Accord is lighter and has a more rigid body structure along with a new advanced chassis design.
The wheelbase is 2.16-inches longer than the outgoing car while being wider and lower. The new Accord gets three new power plants with a pair of direct-injected, turbo 4-cylinder engines. These engines are backed with a 10-speed automatic and available 6-speed manual.
One of the new engines is a 1.5L 16V unit with dual VTC packs 192 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque. Buyers can also choose a 2.0L 16V four with i-VTEC and 10-speed auto or 6-speed manual in sport trim making 252 hp and 273 lb-ft torque. A new hybrid will also be offered with a 2.0L Atkinson cycle engine with over 40% thermal efficiency. Full details on the new 2018 Accord can be found here.
