According to a new report from Strategy Analytics, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is the best selling smartphone for the first half of 2016 with an estimated shipments of 13.3 million units.
The handset has helped Samsung improve its market share in the competitive smartphone market with the Galaxy S7 edge accounting for 2 percent of all Android smartphones shipped in the first half of 2016.
“We estimate the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge model shipped 13.3 million units and accounted for 2 percent share of all Android smartphones shipped worldwide in H1 2016. Samsung’s Galaxy S7 edge is currently the world’s most popular Android smartphone. The S7 edge is wildly popular in dozens of countries globally, due to its attractive curved hardware design blended with a sidebar of apps that consumers find easy to use.”
The handset offer users with an impressive set of internals as well as design with the most attractive being the dual-edge display and a handful of features to play with. The increase in shipments also helped Samsung improve its financials, reporting it as the most profitable quarter in two years.
As a whole, Android shipments rose by 5 percent to 557.3 million units this year while Apple shipments fell by 16 percent to 91.6 million.
