Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge launched with Android 5.0 Lollipop as its operating system, but we’ve seen reports in the past hinting at the Android 5.1 roll out for both handsets.
If that makes you feel any better, it seems the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge could arrive sometime in May later this year.
The software update page on Rogers lists the expected availability of the Android 5.1 update for both handsets to be in June later this year. It’s also worth mentioning that it’s an expected availability date so there’s a possibility that exact launch date may change, depending on the carrier and regions. So, it’s likely that other carriers across the globe will also get the update within a similar time frame.
Although it’s not a major upgrade, it still brings a number of new features and enhancements, including the Guest Mode, allowing multiple users to use a single device. You can set up different profiles for people and prevent others from accessing your private stuff.
There’s no word from Samsung about the exact availability date, but we’ll update you as soon as it’s available for both devices.
