LG introduced their latest flagship device, the LG G6 at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona a few days back.
LG Australia revealed that LG G6 is set to launch in Australia on March 28th, a day before Samsung is expected to introduce the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.
This will make Australia the second key market to get the LG G6. The handset is set to debut in the company’s home country on March 10th. We’re hoping the company will share more details about its launch in Europe and other key markets across the globe along with the pricing.
Unfortunately, LG Australia didn’t share the pricing details of the handset, but the company has revealed that it will carry a price tag of around $800 in its home country.
Key Features and Specifications
The LG G6 comes with a 5.7-inch display sporting a resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio, which provides a more immersive viewing experience. The processing is handled by a Snapdragon 821 processor paired with 4GB of RAM, ensuring smooth performance for multitasking and gaming. The device offers 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card slot.
One of the standout features of the LG G6 is its 13MP dual camera setup. This setup includes a standard lens and a wide-angle lens, allowing users to capture more expansive shots without needing to step back. The camera also supports various modes and features such as HDR, panorama, and manual mode, giving photography enthusiasts more control over their shots.
The handset is powered by a 3,300 mAh battery, which supports fast charging, ensuring that users can quickly top up their battery when needed. Additionally, the LG G6 ships with Android 7.0 Nougat as its operating system, offering a range of new features and improvements over previous versions.
Market Competition and Expectations
The launch of the LG G6 comes at a time when the smartphone market is highly competitive, with major players like Samsung, Apple, and Huawei constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation. The timing of the LG G6’s release, just a day before Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ announcement, indicates LG’s strategy to capture consumer attention and market share.
In terms of pricing, the LG G6 is expected to be positioned as a premium device, with a price tag of around $800 in its home country. This pricing strategy places it in direct competition with other flagship devices from Samsung and Apple. However, LG is banking on the unique features of the G6, such as its display and camera capabilities, to attract consumers.
The LG G6’s design also deserves mention. It features a sleek, minimalist design with a metal and glass build, giving it a premium look and feel. The device is also water and dust resistant, with an IP68 rating, making it more durable for everyday use.
As the LG G6 rolls out to other key markets, it will be interesting to see how it is received by consumers and how it performs against its competitors. The success of the LG G6 could potentially influence LG’s future strategies and product development in the highly competitive smartphone market.
