For those who weren’t already aware, the iPad 5 was announced recently. The name was changed to the iPad Air because of its lighter design, which is the biggest hardware update the device is receiving.
The device will be available via US Cellular by November 8th for those who want it to have cellular internet service wherever they go. Regional carriers are set to follow suit shortly thereafter, but none are committing to a date at this time.
I still don’t understand this tablet obsession that’s sweeping the nation. Even the iPad Air is still a bulky wanna-be laptop letdown. It’s a ridiculously expensive toy that I don’t think any child should own, regardless of how obscenely rich their parents are. Send the kid outside without anything electronic, it won’t kill him!
I will admit I’ve started seeing just how handy they are for businesses, acting as mobile design platforms, giving architects and various other professions the ability to make sweeping modifications and calculations faster than ever before, and cheap, easy kiosks usable by doctors offices and Walt Disney World alike, but I still don’t think they’re necessary for personal use to do everything you could do on your phone.
But enough about me, where do you stand on the tablet craze?
