Huawei is gaining a lot of traction with every passing day. The company has managed to enter the top five smartphone vendors, and aims to reach the top in the coming years.
The Chinese company has a strong presence in several global markets, mostly the developing ones, but not the US. However, things may change in the future as Huawei is expected to launch a flagship device for the US later this year.
There’s no word of which device it is, but it could possibly be the upcoming Huawei P9 which is expected to see the light of the day in the next few hours at a press event.
The alleged device will get some fierce competition from the likes of the LG G5, Samsung Galaxy S7 and the iPhone 6S in the US.
“We want to become No. 1 as a premium brand,” said Richard Yu, Huawei’s consumer electronics chief, in an interview, adding that Huawei plans to launch a flagship phone in the U.S. later this year.
As we said, Huawei has entered the top five smartphone vendors. According to IDC, Samsung held the top spot in the last quarter of 2015 with a 21 percent share followed by Apple with 19 percent and Huawei with 8.1 percent.
