Facebook Messenger is one of the most popular Android apps, allowing users to get in touch with their friends and family.
With Facebook Messenger, users can now send and receive text messages using the app along with the usual Facebook conversations.
Facebook said in a blog post,
Today we are enabling people to use SMS in Messenger for Android to communicate with their family, friends and phone contacts. What this means is you will now have the choice to be able to send and receive your SMS/texts in Messenger and will not have go to different screens on your phone to communicate.
To enable, simply go to Settings on the Facebook app and go to the SMS tab in it. Once inside, simply turn on “Default SMS app” and start using Facebook Messenger as your default SMS app on your Android device. At the moment, the feature is only available on Android, but you can send SMS to any user on any platform. There’s no word on when it will make its way to iOS and other platforms, but we’ll update you as soon as it happens.
