BlackBerry is expanding the availability of the BlackBerry Priv handset in the UK with more retailers now offering the handset.
If you’re still interested, Unlocked Mobiles have now started selling the BlackBerry Priv in the UK for £545 including VAT.
Previously, the handset was only available from Shop BlackBerry website as well as Carphone Warehouse who had exclusive rights. But, as the exclusivity ends, more retailers are expected to start selling the handset.
BlackBerry Priv Specifications and Features
As a quick recap, the BlackBerry Priv comes with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop as its operating system out of the box with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 under the hood. There’s a 5.4-inch display sporting a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot for expansion.
Other features include an 18MP camera for photos and videos, a 2MP front-facing camera, and a 3,410 mAh battery to make sure you don’t have to worry about the battery. The device also includes a physical keyboard, which is a signature feature of BlackBerry devices, providing a tactile typing experience that many users still appreciate.
Enhanced Security and Productivity
One of the standout features of the BlackBerry Priv is its focus on security. BlackBerry has integrated its renowned security software into the Android operating system, making the Priv one of the most secure Android devices on the market. This includes features like DTEK by BlackBerry, which monitors your OS and apps and provides you with a security rating for your device, helping you to manage and improve your privacy.
The BlackBerry Priv also comes with a suite of productivity tools that are designed to help you stay organized and efficient. The BlackBerry Hub consolidates all your communications in one place, including emails, texts, and social media updates, allowing you to manage everything from a single app. Additionally, the device supports BlackBerry’s enterprise solutions, making it an excellent choice for business users who need robust security and productivity features.
Market Reception and User Feedback
The BlackBerry Priv has received mixed reviews from both critics and users. Many have praised the device for its high-resolution display, excellent build quality, and the inclusion of a physical keyboard. The security features have also been a significant selling point, especially for users who prioritize privacy.
However, some users have pointed out that the device’s performance can be inconsistent, and the camera, while good, does not quite match up to the competition in the same price range. The price point of £545 has also been a topic of discussion, with some potential buyers feeling that it is a bit steep compared to other Android devices with similar specifications.
The expansion of the BlackBerry Priv’s availability in the UK is a positive development for fans of the brand and those looking for a secure Android device. With its combination of BlackBerry’s security features, a physical keyboard, and a suite of productivity tools, the Priv offers a unique proposition in the crowded smartphone market.
