A new tiny piece of hardware called ZYMKEY has been developed by Zymbit based in Santa Barbara California, that has been created to help secure Raspberry Pi and Linux Internet of Things applications.
ZYMKEY either takes the form of a USB key for Linux applications or a small add on-board for the Raspberry Pi single board mini PC.
Watch the video below to learn more about this unique device that can save your application from piracy, hacking and other malicious ongoings. Zymbit explain a little more:
ZYMKEY is a tiny device that installs in seconds and secures your linux application against common security attacks. You can use it with your own services or connect it to Zymbit cloud for instant monitoring and remote access. Unique embedded private keys make it the perfect security companion for devices that are standalone and unattended.
In the time it takes you to go to the bathroom at a meetup or hackathon, the credentials to your network, services and logins that are stored on your SD card can be copied. It’s that easy and unfortunately it happens more often than you would think.
Your SD card usually stores the keys to your Kingdom, not just your Raspberry Pi or Linux device. SD cards typically hold keys for the networks you regularly connect to, the services you login to, WiFi keys etc. Copying an SD card is really easy and even encrypted keys can be copied and used with relative ease.
