If you have not yet subscribed to YouTube’s standalone online TV streaming service, you should have done so yesterday. That’s because today you have to pay a bit more for the service. Initially, the YouTube TV price was $35 per month but the company has now decided to increase it by $5. So now you have to pay $40 per month.
In case you missed it, YouTube TV was launched by Google in select markets last April. The service has been rolled out in many other markets since then. It offers live streams from CBS, Fox, NBC, and ABC, the four major broadcast networks along with networks like the CW, FX, ESPN, and others. Since its launch last year, YouTube TV has grown in availability and the content offerings that subscribers can access. Some of the channels added recently include Cartoon Network, CNN, TNT, and TBS. You’ll have to decide if it’s worth $40 a month. At least its another option to cut the cord from cable companies.
Since the YouTube TV subscription will cost $40 now, it does bring it in line with competing services from Hulu and Sony. Those who did sign up for YouTube TV before today will get the original $35 per month price.
