One of the main complaints about Youtube TV is the lack of channels, or that the channels people want are not there. Well Youtube is addressing this. YouTube TV has expanded its offerings by including several Turner networks to its catalogue. This includes TBS, TNT, CNN, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, truTV, and Turner Classic Movies.
Pretty cool. But there’s a catch. In addition to adding new channels to its list, YouTube TV’s pricing has also gone up. YouTube TV was previously $35, but according to the company, starting on March 13th, the price will jump from $35 to $40. This only applies to those who are signing up for YouTube TV for the first time though.
If you subscribed to the service prior to the 13th of March you will continue to pay only $35 and will be grandfathered into the cheaper plan. At $35 it also makes YouTube TV cheaper than Hulu’s live television service and Sony’s PlayStation Vue, although at $40 it also makes it pricier than competition like Sling TV which is priced at $20, and DirecTV Now’s base package of $35. So there’s that.
Over the years we’ve seen Netflix make similar price increases to its subscription as well, so this isn’t something new.
