The Xbox One X is Microsoft’s most powerful gaming console yet, and it is now capable of streaming 4K video from YouTube. Now you can watch those cat videos in glorious 4k.
The YouTube for Xbox One X app has been updated with support for 4K video streaming and will also allow Xbox One X owners to stream HDR video. Great news for the console.
Support for HDR video will be added to the app sometime soon. Microsoft has confirmed the news that the Xbox One X can finally stream 4K video from YouTube. HDR support will be present as well but it’s not live just yet. Microsoft says that it is “coming soon.” Hopefully it will arrive quickly.
While the Xbox One S isn’t as powerful as the Xbox One X, it does have the ability to run 4K content. Microsoft has also revealed that YouTube for Xbox One S will get support for both 4K and HDR too, but this won’t happen right away. It will provide more information about this “soon.” One X owners can take advantage of this right away, of course. The official YouTube app for the console is now capable of playing 4K resolution videos and supports 60fps playback. That’s a nice early Christmas gift for Xbox owners.
