Yahoo has announced that it will begin resetting IDs that have been inactive for at least one year starting on the 15th of July. Think of it as spring cleaning. It will allow the company to free up many IDs that are no longer being used. That is good for you if you have been waiting for the perfect ID.
Yahoo says that this allows their existing and new users “to sign up for the Yahoo! ID they’ve always wanted.” So in July users will be able to sign up for the ID they want. In mid-August they’ll find out which of the IDs they claimed have been given to them. Remember your Yahoo ID serves as a login for a variety of the company’s services. Choose wisely.
If you have not used your ID for more than one year but don’t want to lose it, just sign in to any Yahoo service before July 15th.
