Chinese hardware manufacturer Xiaomi has this week launched it’s new Xiaomi Mi3 smartphone which was first officially unveiled back in September of this year.
After its launch today Xiaomi announced via Twitter that both its Xiaomi Mi3 smartphone and MiTV 3D Smart TV have sold out in record time during their launch in China.
Xiaomi explain in the statement released today that “100,000 Xiaomi MI3s are sold out in one minute and twenty-six seconds, and 3000 MITVs are sold out in one minute and fifty-eight seconds”
However it has been reported that the rush might have been caused by scalpers looking to make a profit on the Xiaomi Mi3 smartphones rather than legitimate consumers looking to purchase the new phone.
To re-cap the Xiaomi Mi3 smartphone is equipped with a 5 inch full HD display offering a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and is powered by a Nvidia Tegra 4 processor supported by 2GB of RAM.
Xiaomi has created a WCDMA and CDMA versions of the Mi3 for China Unicom and China Telecom and the phone is currently available in either a 16GB and 64GB version priced at CNY1999 or $327 and CNY2499 or $410 respectively, if you can get your hands on one from a retail store in the future before the scalpers do.
