Last year Microsoft tried a new strategy, when it just couldn’t keep up with the PlayStation 4’s sales pace. They unbundled Kinect from the Xbox One and sold the console for $399, which was priced closer to the PS4, and then it cut the price by $50. This move helped Microsoft gain on the PS4 during the holiday season, so now it is trying something similar.
The Xbox One with Kinect price has been cut for a limited time. The unbundled console recently went back to its full price, but I guess Microsoft had a change of plan. They hope to catch up to Sony with this plan.
So now it has again cut the price of the Xbox One to compete against the PS4 which is still ahead of Microsoft’s console in global sales. This move can only help them to catch up. The Xbox One with Kinect is now available for $449. That’s a $50 discount over the usual $499 retail cost.
This promotion will run until February 21st and discounted units will be available from major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Toys R Us, GameStop, Walmart and from Microsoft Stores. You shouldn’t have any problems finding one. Recently Sony was asked whether its going to respond to Microsoft’s strategy by cutting the PlayStation 4 price and Sony said it currently has no plans to bring down the PS4 from its retail price of $399. Why should they? They are selling units just fine.
