There have been a lot of rumors recently about the uncertain future of Scalebound, an Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive title being developed by Platinum Games. We have some sad news to report today.
The developer has been working on the game for a few years now and sadly, despite all of the work that has gone into it, Microsoft has now confirmed that Scalebound has been canceled.
The company has confirmed that Platinum Games and Microsoft Studios have decided to go their separate ways and stop all development on Scalebound. Apparently Scalebound has been canceled for purely “business decisions.” Which doesn’t really tell us anything. This game was meant to be an action RPG with a four-player co-op mode. Players would have bonded with giant customizable dragons in the game too, which sounded awesome. The decision to cancel this title is a real disappoint.
“After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for “Scalebound.” We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year,” it said in an official statement. I guess you can’t win them all. Other new titles coming our way are Halo Wars 2, Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2, and more.
