Consoles these days do so much more than just playing video games. You can even watch videos via Netflix and Hulu to name just two entertainment options. I imagine that many Xbox users are not happy that they have to pay for an Xbox Live Gold subscription just to access features like streaming movies.
Well, this requirement could soon be removed, according to Arstechnia. Their sources have informed them that Microsoft is planning to remove the requirement for an Xbox Live Gold subscription in order to view videos on Hulu or Netflix and other streaming media apps. Nice, but it sucks that people have had to pay for it up until this point.
This is good news, but bad news for those who did pay for the subscription, since this would take away some exclusive features that they used to have. Apparently Microsoft will replace those services with something else, to make up for this. We don’t know when this will be official, but it will be a nice change that will save you a few bucks. You can spend that on games if you want.
