In the old days SSDs came in really very storage sizes, but cost a small fortune. SSDs are still expensive today, but they are considerably more affordable now, especially since they have also increased in storage capacity.
Well, if you’re looking for an SSD that goes above and beyond the call of duty, a company named Fixstars has launched the world’s biggest SSD with storage capacities available in both 13TB and 10TB options, and in 2.5-inch sizes. That’s right, 13 TB of storage.
The name Fixstars should ring a bell, because back in 2015 they launched the world’s first 6TB SSD, so now they are breaking records once again. These SSDs will offer read speeds of up to 540MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 520MB/s.
They also have a built-in temperature control system to make sure that heat does not damage the drive. These won’t come cheap however. The 13TB model will retail for $13,000 and is expected to begin shipping by the end of next month. One day a 13 TB SSD drive will be cheap, but today is not that day. It is amazing that we have an SSD with that kind of storage. If you need speed and a lot of storage, this is for you.
