Following the success of the Wonder Woman movie, it’s not surprising that DC and Warner Bros. Have now greenlit a sequel, Wonder Woman 2. After the events that took place in the first movie and also Wonder Woman’s appearance in Batman V Superman and Justice League, you might think that the sequel will be based on present times.
That’s not the route they are taking. The movie’s director Patty Jenkins recently confirmed that Wonder Woman 2 will be based in the 1980s. This announcement was made during Warner Bros.’ presentation at Cinemacon in Las Vegas. This isn’t the first time rumors of a 1980s setting has surfaced.
Last year there were already many rumors suggesting that the movie could take place in the 1980s where Wonder Woman is expected to face off against the Soviets towards the end of the Cold War. That is just speculation, but we do know that Kristen Wiig will play the villain Cheetah, while Game of Thrones’ Pedro Pascal will also have a role in the film. Doesn’t sound like Russians are involved yet.
Wonder Woman 2 has been confirmed for a release for the 1st of November, 2019. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for this one.
